Boing Putty

Today after I picked Cass up from school we ran a couple of errands.  Some for the Girl Scouts and some for a project I was asked to do.  Of course, if a project is involved, it normally means a trip to Michael's, and so we did.  Of course we were dragged in kicking and screaming, we cannot stand that place!!!!  Upon our time at the check-out stand we spotted these sitting in a dollar bin........

What on earth is boing putty?  And why is it only a dollar?  Obviously it peaked my interest so I bought one in pink and one in purple.  I asked the lady if she had ever played with one before (and by the way, the lady looked like a teenager and was telling me about her son who runs from cops, lovely people we have here at Michael's) to which I got a dirty look followed by "ummmm, no" which was followed by "they make a pretty cool sound though when squeezed".  Without yelling "didn't you just say you have never played with this stuff before?  Why do you feel the need to be a closet boing putty player?" I made my purchase and was out the door.  Less than an hour later we were home and broke out our boing putty.  This stuff is pretty darn cool!!!!  It has virtually no smell.  I say that only for the fact that when i was little we had something similar called Gak and it was slimy and smelled horrid.  The only reason I kept playing with it was the cool fart sound it would make when pushed back into its container.  Oh the things that bring me joy.  Anyways, back to the boing putty.  This stuff is pretty freakin cool!!!!  It makes absolutely no mess.  It isn't oily so my table wasn't a mess after and it bounces and by that I mean that sucker when rolled into a ball will bounce your  pictures right off the wall if you let it.  And I am sure you know who almost had a heart attack upon seeing this squishy substance...........

She had a blast.  These were a snazzy pair of sunglasses her momma made her, only the best fashions for my little one!!!!!!
This one decided to go CSI on us and scope out her poor dead gingerbread man she had made.  Which was soon turned into a round ball that bounced around our house.
This one wasn't so sure on what it was.  She knew she couldn't eat it and was pretty upset............
Until daddy squished it on her nose, that made her giggle and come back for more.  Needless to say, it was completely worth my dollar!!!  I am all about my kiddos having a good time while mommy doesn't have a fit from the mess being made.  I am sure we will use this stuff until it dries out, which I am not too sure actually happens.  It could be made by twinkie and be the only thing left on earth after Armageddon.

Cheesy Chicken Enchiladas

Tonight's dinner was super yummy so I thought I would share. I have been making these for quite some time now along with other things and as much as I love food and want to be a chef, you would think I would be sharing. So, enjoy.........

2 cups chopped cooked chicken
1 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese; cubed
1 jar (8 oz) salsa; divided
flour tortillas (recipe calls for 8 but my pan normally fits more)
12 oz. velveeta cheese spread; cut up
1/4 cup milk
green onions (optional)

Stir chicken, bell pepper, cream cheese and 1/2 cup salsa in saucepan on low heat until cream cheese is melted. Spoon 1/3 cup chicken mixture down center of each tortilla; roll up. Place seam side down in lightly greased 12 x 8 inch baking dish. Stir cheese spread and milk in saucepan on low heat until smooth. Pour sauce over tortillas; cover with foil. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Pour remaining salsa over tortillas.
(because of the kiddos I normally do not put the salsa on top after it is cooked, I have it on the side. I do however sprinkle green onions on top, yum)

A Little Early........

Here on the west coast we have 1 1/2 hours left until it is officially Mother's Day and yes, I write that as if it matters, haha. However, my wonderful friend Julie told me about a blog the other day so I have been reading all about her wonderful life. Her name is Kelle Hampton and you can read all about her here. Tonight she posted her post for Mother's Day and it was beautiful. One of the things that hit me the most was when she said that her kids have replaced her heart with a new one. Her second daughter was born with Down Syndrome and I am sure you know just by me saying that that she has been through a lot, just coming to terms with her sweet baby not being what she thought she would be. And it made me think of Cassidy. I find myself so often thinking of life before Epilepsy and what that was like. Life this time of year was so completely different, it seemed so normal now looking back at it. But what is normal? I think I have fallen in love with Cassidy replacing my heart with a new one. I have learned so much since August 2009. I feel like a whole new person. I have learned a lot and I think I have focused more on being a good mom. Not going everywhere as if that's the only way my kids would have a decent childhood. We were a lets go here and now lets go there family, but now it is ok to stay home and just focus on us. It is a beautiful thing!!!!!! I think I feel so much more like a mom this year than I ever have. I wish I could write as beautifully as Kelle writes over at her blog (or everyone else who blogs actually) but I hope you get what I am saying. The motherhood I am experiencing is totally not what I had planned on but I am so happy to have been chosen to live it. Don't get me wrong, i would love for my girl to be healthy and not have to take meds everyday. But she is alive and I get to wake up to her beautiful face each and every morning.
And to my beautiful mom friends who have taught me so much, you are all so amazing to me and continue to teach me new ways to be a great mom. I love spending time with all of you and to my wonderful awesome Julie who is the best mom I know, I miss you so much. I know you are having an amazing day with your new littlest one and his three big siblings, how awesome!!!!!!
Happy Mother's Day to you too mom!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your love and sacrifice and for always being there for me and Nik!!!!!!!!!!! I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Etiquette?

So, what is the proper etiquette when you find money laying in the street? Today I ran errands with the girls and one of the stops was to Target to print out pictures for a present I am making. After we left the store, I was taking the girls to the car and putting the cart back. After I got Hayley out and was walking back to the car, I saw a nice little wad of money laying on the ground. I picked it up, not even looking at how much and starting scanning the area. I stood there for about 5 minutes looking around, I am sure I looked like a complete weirdo to everyone who saw me and didn't lose the money. But the money I saw on top was a $20 and there was more inside so I figured someone would be missing it. Someone who went to their car and then looked for money. Or went in the store and went to pay but had no cash. I thought or a second that I could go in the store and give it to someone who worked there but does that really work with cash? So, after the 5 minute standoff between me, myself and I....I left. I felt so guilty, like I had just stolen from someone. When I got in the car, I looked and it was $40!!!!!! I was so scared to have it, again I felt like a thief. I picture someone crying searching frantically for their money. So, I decided I was going to hold onto it and give it someone who needed it. Someone I see on the side of the road or something, I will know when I see them. But I still feel guilty!!! What is the proper etiquette?

One of these things is not like the other

Pay no mind to my feet. Yes, they are here right in front of your face, but you are supposed to be looking at the super cute purple zebra that is printed on them. My friend in high school let me know that I have fat little sausage toes (thanks Martin) and I have always known I have fat wide feet with sausage appendages. However, do you notice my fake toe? No? Well, the big toe you are looking at is not mine. I feel so weird and gross saying that. I went with a friend to get our nails done the other night. Mine was much needed!!! I quickly slipped my feet into the bubbly warm water to relax and so no one would notice my feet and start fighting on who would have to touch the feet on that crazy lady. After 5 minutes of relaxing, my lady came over. The first words out of my mouth were apologizing for my nasty feet. Not only was I missing half a nail (and not horizontally which is normal, I don't do normal, so my nail was missing vertically) but my feet were also super dry and yucky. Ever since I was young I have suffered from super dry hands and feet. My hands are not so bad because I can lotion them every 5 minutes but my feet don't get as much attention, therefore making them dry and cracked and well, not appealing. She didn't say it would be ok, she has seen worse, or anything somewhat comforting. She made a face and pulled my feet out to look at them!!! Yep, I know they are bad I responded following 20 million apologies. Maybe I could give the pedicure if she would just do the cute nail polish at the end? Then she offered something amazing and creepy. Creepily amazing lets say. She told me she could make my toe an acrylic toe. Huh? Like a fake toe? I have never heard of that. I have heard of acrylic nails for the hands but do people really do that on their feet? Wow!!! Why yes i would love that I proclaimed and here I am, cute nails and they all look the same. No half toe on one foot!!!!!! I am sure they have my picture at the front of the salon these days, either saying i am not allowed back or to charge me extra because you may want to vomit at the mere site of my toes.
